About The Opportunity:_**

Specific key responsibilities include: managing City Council and Council Committee meeting administration, including agenda preparation, minutes, recordings, public notifications, logistics; disseminating decisions and action items to appropriate departments; ensuring all staff reports to Council contain the necessary process information to facilitate Council's decision-making; providing advice to report authors regarding format, processes, and standards; and attending Council and Council Committee meetings to ensure adherence to procedural rules and provide procedural advice. In this role you will provide legislative/administrative research and advisory services to senior leadership and prepare reports, bylaws, policies, letters, and other documents. The Manager interprets bylaws and Council and Committee resolutions. You will lead, mentor, and develop staff, identify succession planning and growth opportunities, manage staff performance and liaise with human resources on escalated personnel matters. You will manage City Council and Administrative policies and procedures. This role manages assigned projects from inception to execution and assigns project tasks to staff. The Manager administers oaths, affirmations, affidavits, and declaration to be taken under oath as required and possess signing authority for certain City documents. The Manager certifies copies of bylaws and other documents, keeps the corporate seal and affixes same to documents. You will use your innovative approach to identify and implement continuous improvements.

About Your Background:_**

Ideally, you have a university degree in public administration, business, political science, law, or a related discipline, coupled with a certificate in Local Government Administration and at least five years of experience in corporate administration roles in local government with similar responsibilities. You are experienced working with elected officials, senior staff, the public, and the media. You have considerable knowledge of the _Community Charter_, _Local Government Act_, _Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act,_ and parliamentary procedure. Certification as a Municipal Clerk, and completion of Municipal Administration Training Institute (MATI) Program courses are considered assets for this role. A valid full privilege Class 5 BC driver's license (or out of province equivalent) and a clear Police Information Check for offences related to the position are also requirements.
