**The Position**: We’re looking for someone to be a part of our Office Team as a Bookkeeper. You would be contributing to the team by:

- Being responsible for providing accounting support to alfa’s management and staff
- Assisting in filling of account payable and receivable
- Acting as the contact person for the main telephone line for incoming calls
- Helping monitor the front door and welcome visitors

Your team will include an Office Manager, the General Manager and some Process Engineers who will all help support you to get the job done.

**Pay**:Pay range is $23 - $26 / hr to start based upon experience, your ability to be productive independently and your contribution to the alfa team. We review pay annually and it increases with ability as well as dedication and effort (e.g. how independent you are; your knowledge of your daily tasks; your attendance and punctuality; in a small company we know WHO does WHAT Your effort will not go unnoticed here).

**Shift**:The Bookkeeper is a day shift position.

**Working Conditions**: The Bookkeeper will spend 100% of their time in the office environment. Walking around the office and plant is encouraged as it gets your familiar with our people and process and it’s great exercise

**What we will expect from you**:

- Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using computerized and manual bookkeeping systems
- Prepare invoices and send to customers
- Responsible for receiving customer payment notifications, reconciling payment with bank statements and any necessary journal entries
- Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable with customers
- Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
- Understand and complete EFT transfers
- Complete and file HST monthly and file EHT and WSIB annually
- Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers’ compensation forms and other government documents
- Work cooperatively with Office Manager on all payables and related journal entries
- Prepare year end working papers for external accountant
- Order office supplies as needed

**What skills you should have**:

- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Proven ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with strict attention to detail
- Strong organization and record keeping skills
- Demonstrated strong work ethic with a determination to complete duties well and on time
- Commitment and responsibility towards quality of work completed daily
- Comfortable working in a factory environment
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Proficient with computers in general

**What experience you should have**:

- 3 to 5 years bookkeeping experience
- 2 or more years using Connected Accounting or equivalent (preferred)
- Experience working in a small organization
