Overview:
Element has an opportunity for a
** Sample Prep Technician (Environmental).** Operating under the supervision of the team lead, this position is responsible for preparing samples for analysis in a timely and efficient manner, as well as disposing of outdated samples, maintaining order in sample storage and login and receiving of samples.

**Responsibilities**:

- Perform sample preparation required for analysis
- Monitor and dispose of outdated samples
- Assist log in with receiving and unpacking of client samples
- Assist shipping with preparation of samples for transportation
- Input results into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Clean glassware as specified in the test method
- Maintain good housekeeping at all times to ensure a clean and safe work environment
- Request supplies and consumables in advance of requirement by recording needed items in order book
- Train new staff in test methods and procedures
- Follow the Quality System as documented in the Quality Manual
- General duties as directed by the team leader or lab manager
- Sample prep personal have the authority and responsibility to:

- Prepare samples for analysis in a timely and efficient manner.
- Dispose of outdated samples, maintaining order in sample storage.
- Strict adherence to the corporate Quality System
- Perform test methods as documented
- Clean and maintain gas cylinders
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment; comply with all rules and responsibilities as outlined under the corporate Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
- Work with trainees until approval of trainees demonstrated competence is documented
- Maintain training records, resumes and CVs
- Seek out their direct supervisor if they are unsure of any job duties or tasks as per the structure shown in the organizational chart.

Skills / Qualifications:

- High school diploma with experience working independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to learn on the job
- Understand and follow test methods
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures
- Effective communication skills - both written and verbal
- Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
