The Technical Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the end-to-end purchasing process including but not limited to quotation reviews, price negotiation, generate purchase orders, order placement, quality assurance and shipment booking to meet both customer requirements and production schedules

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Solicit quotes for purchases of materials, services, and parts with consideration of the grade, quality, price and required dates to ensure that product requirements and customer shipment dates are achieved
- Negotiate prices, discount terms, and stocking agreements with suppliers to achieve the highest quality parts and materials at the most cost-effective price
- Monitor purchasing history and market trends of products and materials to assess future availability
- Interface with the Sales team on Request for Quotes, specifications, and price comparisons
- Acquire product specifications and requirements established by the customer from our Engineering/Design team to ensure that all parts and materials purchased conform to manufacturing and customer requirements
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for parts and materials in a manner that reflects federal, provincial and local laws as well as internal controls and regulations
- Validate purchases against budget actuals and advise committed cost overruns
- Conduct physical checks of inventory and rectify inventory discrepancies
- Establish logistics of delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact Suppliers and/or Project Managers to resolve problems
- Develop excellent vendor relationships by maintaining communication
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve quality control, payment and shipping issues in a timely manner
- Monitor and maintain supplier performance and communicate results

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Post secondary education with a specialization in Supply Chain or similar area
- Technical knowledge in electrical engineering or automation is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years purchasing experience
- Project management experience is an asset
- Previous work within the automation and/or electrical field(s) is an asset
- Supply Chain Management Certification considered an asset
- Some lifting up to 50lbs may be involved**Benefits**:
