**Position Title**
- Marketing Strategist**Position Summary**
- We are looking for a creative, strategic and thoughtful Marketing Strategist to join our team. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Strategist will work alongside internal business clients to develop and implement effective marketing plans and strategies that will grow and strengthen the RDP brand. The Marketing Strategist will work closely with the larger Marketing and Communications team to implement, evaluate and measure all marketing strategies and tactics.**Position Responsibilities**
**Project Management - Strategic Planning and Tactical Execution**
- The Marketing Strategist is responsible for providing the strategic direction for marketing campaigns and plans for Red Deer Polytechnic products and services
- Advise requesting departments by developing marketing strategies that support their business needs and the overall strategic direction of the Polytechnic.
- Develop marketing plans, using an integrated approach of traditional and digital media.
- Foster relationships with requesting department so they feel the Marketing Strategist is a part of their team.
**Marketing - Advertising**
- Develop advertising plans using an integrated approach of traditional and digital media, ensuring that requesting department business needs are being met.
- Work with requesting departments and larger marketing teams to develop effective creative ads that meet business needs and adhere to RDP’s brand. This includes drafting content to ensure message resonates with target audiences and fits specifications of a particular medium; editing; proofreading.
- Research emerging media, new trends and best practices to ensure that requesting departments connect most effectively with identified internal and external audiences
**Communication - Strategies & Tactics**
- Work with larger Communications team to develop web stories, media releases and key messages/stories for internal communication channels.
- Work with the Communications & Events Strategist on events related to portfolio.
**Measuring Marketing Effectiveness**
- Use best practices to develop tools and methods to measure success and ROI of marketing initiatives.
- Monitor effectiveness of marketing initiatives; work with requesting department to respond and change tactics as necessary.
- Develop reporting at the end of a project and share outcomes with requesting departments.
- Conduct market research and focus groups to set foundation for marketing and communications plans.
**Brand Management**
- Ensure that RDP brand is effectively and consistently integrated within all marketing and communications initiatives, directed internally and externally.
- Assist with the Polytechnic’s brand management and best practices research (e.g., Brand Standards maintenance and implementation)
**Budget Stewardship**
- Allocate, utilize, and adhere to budgets identified by requesting departments to develop appropriate collateral materials and advertising.
- As part of marketing and media plans, recommend appropriate media, frequency, and schedule to effectively advertise to identified target audiences, using budgets identified by requesting departments.
- Negotiate with external vendors (e.g., printers, photographers, media sales representatives) to quote production of required materials
**Required Qualifications**
- Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent: Diploma or degree in Digital Marketing, Communications or Public Relations.
- Ability to write and implement Marketing and Creative briefs
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of university in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent: Digital marketing and communications. Demonstrated graphic design sensibility
