**Salary**: $3,147.32 to $4,235.37 bi-weekly ($82,145 - $110,543/year)

The Continuing Care division is responsible for the development of provincial policy and legislation for continuing care (home care, supportive living and long-term care). Our division is leading a number of key high-priority initiatives within the Ministry of Health. Our division works closely with Alberta Health Services, other ministries and other health service delivery stakeholders in planning for continuing care programs and services.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Reporting to the Director of Strategic Policy and Planning, and within the scope of legislative and government/department policy, this position is responsible for leading, planning, developing, implementing and evaluating complex strategic initiatives related to improving Alberta's continuing care system.
- The position is responsible for:
- Overseeing policy initiatives that encourage continuing care system integration and innovation (research and innovation grants, collaboration with other department branches and cross ministry committees, liaison with other Canadian jurisdictions for best practices and shared learnings).
- Providing leadership and support to implement key recommendations of the Facility-Based Continuing Care Review recommendations, and Aging with Dignity Bi-Lateral Agreement priorities.
- Overseeing and prioritizing foresight and environmental scanning activities for the Continuing Care Branch to analyze emerging themes/findings, identify future priorities and to shape and influence long-term system planning. This includes, but is not limited to, directing significant jurisdictional scanning, primary and secondary research and analysis to inform the development of comprehensive policy options. It further emphasizes incorporation of platform monitoring leading up to and following elections, and identification of political trends into foresight activities.
- Leading intergovernmental relations in the Continuing Care Branch including the development and maintenance of strategic intergovernmental relationships in the continuing care sector, and related seniors and social service areas.
- Overseeing the development of branch operational plans and reports aligned with system and government priorities and coordinate and represent the branch's input on broader division, department or GOA or system planning and reporting initiatives.
- Guiding improvements in branch operation practices to position the branch to effectively guide the continuing care system forward.

This position achieves its accountabilities by directing the operations of a team of professional policy staff, as well as leading and participating on cross-ministry, departmental and external stakeholder teams. The incumbent also collaborates with executive and key senior management in Alberta Health, other GoA departments, senior management of Alberta Health Services, and senior officials of key external stakeholders such as continuing care associations to gain consensus and achieve deliverables.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in a field related to the position assignment (Health), supplemented by three years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one year of experience for one year of education or vise versa.
