**Req ID**: 31476
**Faculty/Division**: Temerty Faculty of Medicine
**Department**: Department of Nutritional Sciences
**Campus**: St. George (Downtown Toronto)
**Position Number**: 00049116

**Description**:
**About us**:
Home to over 40 departments and institutes, the University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine lies at the heart of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network and is a global leader in ground-breaking research and education, spanning clinical medicine, basic science and the rehabilitation sciences sectors.

**Your opportunity**:
The Department of Nutritional Sciences is one of the few departments of nutrition in North America to be located within a Faculty of Medicine. This, together with its close linkages with University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health, allows the department to fully explore the relationships between nutrition and human health and disease, and to influence clinical practice and public health programs. It also creates unique opportunities for collaboration with the highest concentration of university-affiliated hospitals, clinicians, and health researchers in North America. Although the department is centered in the Basic Sciences sector of the faculty, its activities include not only basic science but also clinical and community aspects of nutrition and food and nutrition policy. These activities that range from ‘bench to bedside to populations’ make it a model of integration within the whole of the health sciences complex at the University of Toronto, enabling a full exploration of the relationships between nutrition and human health to influence both clinical practice and public health policy.

As Research Programs Officer, you will champion research activities in the department by facilitating research grant submissions, particularly team and equipment grants. Your extensive knowledge of research funding opportunities and grant writing will enable you to draft funding proposals, prepare budgets and coordinate preparation and approval of other submission materials. You will co-ordinate shared research space and equipment in the department including the Nutrition Intervention Centre. Your strong communication and relationship building skills will empower you to foster and sustain collaboration with existing and potential collaborators and increase visibility of the department’s research successes. You will play an essential role in disseminating research results by coordinating meetings, seminars, and workshops.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Coordinating project activities and tracking and monitoring research activities
- Researching and recommending new opportunities for external collaborations and partnerships

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with academic leaders, committees and staff to achieve Department goals
- Planning and coordinating skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and facilitate others to do so
- Flexibility in adjusting to changing circumstances; demonstrated multi-tasking skills; ability to coordinate multifaceted, concurrent projects and tasks
