**Position**

We are seeking an **Environmental Coordinator **for a full-time temporary position for maternity leave coverage.The role will be based at the Minto mine, 250km north of Whitehorse, YT. This is a camp-based operation with a two-week on/two weeks off rotation. Travel to/from Whitehorse and the mine site is paid for by the company.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree required in Environmental science or engineering, biology, geology, chemistry and/or equivalent work experience;
- Approximately 7 years of environmental management experience in mining, oil and gas, heavy industry, chemicals preferred but not required;
- 5+ years of experience within environmental management and relationship management with environmental and regulatory authorities;
- Experience working in a remote mining or industrial environment;
- At least one (1) project or one (1) year cumulative demonstrated experience in regulatory reporting, analyzing and interpreting monitoring results from a variety of media for exceedances and trends and providing recommendations on environmental issues (e.g. water quantity or quality, reclamation, etc.) associated with industrial or mine sites;
- Must be eligible to work in Canada;
- Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships;
- Ability to work with a diverse cross-cultural workforce;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Valid driver's license;
- Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review site activities for environmental non-conformances and monitor all environmental systems to determine where improvements can be made including inspecting work areas and ensuring environmental safeguards are put in place;
- Implement and maintain reporting structures that monitor compliance with all related SFN (Selkirk First Nation), territorial and federal environmental standards;
- Prepare environmental documentation that demonstrates the mine is in compliance with all related SFN, territorial and federal environmental standards and regulations and notify regulators of non-compliance issues as required;
- Prepare and submit on a timely basis all reports dictated by current and future permits plus any other reports that may be required;
- Advise management and supervisory staff on environmental issues, ensuring that environmental objectives are achieved;
- Being an advisor on water and wastewater management for water discharge, reviewing water balances, water quality to inform management and operational decisions on water balance and discharge requirements or being an advisor on reclamation/remediation for the site including informing management an participating in operational decisions related to progressive reclamation, reclamation research, lead the continued design and implementation of the Reclamation and Closure Plan for Minto Mine (must be revised every 2 years).
- Liaison with environmental consultants and various legislative stakeholders;
- Provide daily direction and supervision of all subordinate environmental personnel in the absence of the Environment Manager;
- Oversee and/or conduct environmental training programs for all site personnel;
- Practice and actively promote company environmental, health, safety and operational policies and procedures;
- Ensure that safety issues are reported and promptly remedied;
- Demonstrate safety leadership within a team environment and promote environmental awareness in all work or task related duties;
- Be an effective communicator in English (verbal and written) at all levels, including keeping your cross-shift and other team members fully informed
- Comply with company standards, as well as Yukon Territory and Canadian federal standards;
- Other duties may be assigned from time to time as required by the Company.

Priority consideration will be given to Selkirk First Nation citizens, Northern Tutchone citizens, Yukon First Nations and residents of Yukon Territory.
