Client Support Worker
Permanent Full Time
**Wage: $20.28 - $24.99 based on skills, knowledge, education and certifications related to First Nations cultural teachings, addictions, and trauma informed care**
**Organization/culture**
Round Lake Treatment Centre is found in a calming rural environment, surrounded by nature, overlooking Round Lake and situated on the traditional spiritual healing lands of the Syilx nation. The focus of the work is to support a First Nation cultural environment that fosters client safety, choice and empowerment in all services provided from an indigenous perspective while encouraging the ongoing skill development of internal staff as part of ongoing succession planning.
**Job summary**
The Client Support Worker is part of the program team and is responsible for the safety of clients and the center, while providing recovery based support to clients using First Nations cultural teachings, trauma informed care and a strong understanding of how to support healthy coping strategies. In this position you will be expected to role model and support healthy lifestyle habits and emotional coping strategies that encourage behavioural self-awareness and wholistic wellness of individual clients.
As a member of our Client Support team you will be responsible for:
- Personal self-awareness and wholistic wellness (Emotional, Spiritual, Physical and Mental)
- Supervision and support of the Centre’s Clients
- Out-of-business hours, assume responsibility for safekeeping the Centre
- Developing and facilitating evening and weekend physical activities, First Nations specific cultural activities and recovery based client activities
- 24/7 Shifts on a rotating basis - days, evenings, graveyards
- Client behavioral interventions, observations, support and documentation as outlined by the counselling team
- Medication support in absence of Resident Nurse
- Acting as safety warden in emergencies
- As needed errands and light housekeeping duties Re: supply and parcel pick-ups, dishes, sweeping

**Required Education, Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Aboriginal Support Worker Certificate, Community Support Worker Certificate or support certificate in a related mental health & addictions field**
OR
- **Two years’ equivalent experience in a Residential Addictions Treatment setting with strong knowledge of addictions, trauma informed care, First Nations cultural teachings**:
- Successful completion of Grade 12
- Valid Class 4 Commercial BC Driver’s License - support may be provided to obatin during probationary period
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certification - support may be provided to obtain during probationary period
- Demonstrated background and knowledge of First Nations cultural teachings and trauma informed practice with a capacity to facilitate indigenous activities.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to safely lift 25 pounds
- RLTC is an alcohol and drug free environment - Service providers in the substance misuse field must maintain a reasonable standard of professional practice and will act as a role model for those struggling with substance misuse and process addictions.
