Job Summary: Deliver top-tier pharmaceutical care to patients, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of medication therapy. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide evidence-based pharmacotherapy recommendations. Oversee pharmacy technicians and interns to guarantee seamless drug delivery systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medication Safety and Optimization: Verify medication orders, reconcile home medications, review patient charts, counsel patients, monitor lab values, and adjust dosages as needed. Document all medication-related plans and interventions in electronic medical records.
  • Clinical Consultation and Collaboration: Provide best-practice guidance to practitioners, promoting safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy through interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Dispensing Process Oversight: Ensure accurate and timely delivery of optimal pharmacotherapy, supervising pharmacy technicians and/or interns who support the pharmacist's role in the drug delivery system.
  • Precepting and Mentoring: Precept pharmacy students and residents as applicable, fostering their growth and development in pharmaceutical care.
  • Work Environment and Physical Demands:
    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
    • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
    • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
    • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
    • Rare climbing.

Professional Requirements:

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification required within 90 days of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.

State Licensing:

Registered Pharmacist license required in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.

Job Schedule and Work Environment:

7 On / 7 Off schedule with opportunities to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
