Financial Controller

**Location**: Cambridge, ON (This is an **IN-OFFICE **role at Headquarters, not remote)
**Job Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA designation preferred).
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the consumer loans industry or a similar financial services sector.
- Extensive knowledge of consumer lending, loan servicing, and credit risk management principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements specific to consumer lending.
- Proven experience in managing and optimizing a large consumer loans portfolio, including loan origination, underwriting, collections, and reporting.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, including assessing loan performance, identifying trends, and implementing strategies for portfolio growth and risk mitigation.
- Advanced knowledge of financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis for consumer lending products.
- Familiarity with credit scoring models and the ability to assess and refine credit policies.
- Experience in working with auditors and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of building and managing high-performing finance teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of effectively conveying complex financial information to stakeholders at all levels.

**Position Overview**:
As the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the finance and accounting team, along with the strategic management of our consumer loans portfolio. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the financial health and growth of the portfolio, optimizing loan performance, managing risk, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Consumer Loans Portfolio Management**:Develop and implement strategies for loan origination, underwriting, and collections processes to optimize portfolio performance and profitability. Monitor and analyze loan performance metrics, including delinquency rates, charge-offs, and loan loss provisions, and provide recommendations for improvement. Assess credit risk through the use of credit scoring models and refine credit policies to maintain a balanced risk-reward profile. Conduct regular portfolio reviews to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risk and enhance portfolio performance.
- **Financial Reporting and Compliance**:Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for the consumer loans portfolio, including P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Collaborate with auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide support during audits. Stay updated on industry regulations and changes in accounting standards relevant to the consumer loans industry.
- **Financial Analysis and Strategic Planning**: Conduct financial analysis, including forecasting, budgeting, and scenario modeling, to support strategic decision-making and business planning. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to drive growth opportunities, new business initiatives, and operational efficiencies. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and evaluate business cases for new loan products, expansion into new markets, and other strategic initiatives.
- **Execute Accounting and Admin**: The role will be accountable for the performance of multiple finance functions including payroll, payables, administration, treasury, financial accounting/reporting, annual budgeting and rolling forecasts, decision support and analytics and market insights. Additional responsibilities include oversight of all financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance and alignment with corporate policies.
