**The Role**:
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of production and will be instrumental in ensuring that production targets are met. The Production Manager will collaborate with various members of the production team to identify process improvements and opportunities for new technology to optimize efficiency as a part of continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Manger will also develop and analyze metrics and KPIs related to production, while coaching and mentoring the Production Supervisors.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage the use of plant resources to ensure that all plant operations are meeting or exceeding safety, quality, and production goals set by the Plant Manager;
- Manage the production and associate schedules to ensure it is aligned with business requirements;
- Verify and approve payroll data for production associates including agency staff;
- Utilize production and other analytical reports to better gauge plant performance and to make better decisions;
- Review and control operation expenses for raw materials, operating supplies, and equipment;
- Review BOM and update formulas as required when there are BOM changes;
- Participate in new process development and planning by researching the cost and ability to execute the plan for capital projects;
- Lead the analysis of SKU costing through comparing new SKUs with existing SKUs;
- Lead the plants in Lean CI, and 5s to reduce waste and improve the plant's productivity accordingly and define the strategies to implement the changes;
- Designing equipment that meets specific product requirements for maximum output;
- Evaluating new food processing technologies and equipment to ensure they meet industry standards;
- Participate in product trials through adjusting production to meet the trial needs and approve all Reclass forms;
- Providing the Plant Manager with process documents and standard operating procedures related to equipment operation;
- Develop and maintain reporting metric and KPIs related to production, including quantity vs planned, labour, waste, etc.
- Maintain manpower requirements through proper staffing, training, and development of production employees, supervisors, and other technical personnel;
- Drive effective work performance and development of skills and knowledge of Shift Managers/Supervisors and Lead Hands through regular meetings;
- Foster and embrace Health and Safety culture, driving accountability and responsibility through the Internal Responsibility System;
- Actively participate in the performance appraisal of production employees;
- Other relevant projects and tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years manufacturing work experience at management level with food manufacturing being an asset;
- University degree preferable in Mechanical Engineering or related fields;
- Proven tacking record with Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement
- Strong verbal & written communication skills;
- Excellent planning, analytical & organizational skills;
- Demonstrates high attention to detail;
- Ability to identify, formalize, and problem solve business needs;
- Expertise in MS Office and strong Excel skills.
