The Granite Club is hiring a full-time Assistant Banquets Manager who will be responsible for the organizing and directing of service activities in the private dining rooms, the ballroom and all areas in the club where special events are scheduled. The Assistant Banquet Manager is expected to be a leader, teacher and a role model for the staff to follow. The position also entails the maintenance and enhancement of the Granite Gold level of service necessary to properly represent the Granite Club.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Daily schedule of staff to facilitate quality service
- Conduct briefings with F&B service staff prior to each function
- Responsible for the appearance of staff, uniforms and name tags while on duty
- Assist Banquet Manager with Hiring, Promotions and recommendations for termination of staff
- Record hours of staff on time sheets, submission of weekly payroll
- Thorough check of all function rooms before event to ensure proper set up, appearance and cleanliness
- Proper handling of F&B contracts, change logs and associated paperwork
- Inspect equipment and arrange for repairs as required
- Promote teamwork and two way communication
- Promote excellent Member relations
- Assist Banquet Manager with the overall departmental goals
- Excellent working relationship with Chef and Kitchen Staff
- Willing to taste different foods on various menu items served
- Assists with Banquet Inventory management of food, beverage as well as equipment (china, glassware and silverware).
- Ensures compliance with the Liquor Laws of Ontario
- Proper usage of Northstar - checking of daily, weekly and changing schedule as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by Banquet Services Manager
- Be knowledgeable about various audiovisual and event technologies to assists Clients /Members and train staff to use existing Club equipment appropriately
- Attend staff meetings as required

**Required Qualifications**:

- Minimum Grade 12 Education
- Minimum of 5 years prior Banquet experience
- Hospitality Degree or Diploma an asset
- Previous management experience an asset
- Able to make quick decisions
- Strong communication skills
- Good working knowledge of computers - MS Word and Excel, Point of Sale, Event Management & Billing Systems

**Work Schedule**
- Flexible to work variable shifts; evenings, weekends and holidays
