Fraser Health requires a part-time (0.8 FTE) palliative care physician to provide clinical service along with our multidisciplinary team located in White Rock, B.C. This is an exciting opportunity, where you will work alongside other palliative care physicians to provide Most Responsible Provider (MRP) coverage at Melville Hospice (15 beds), and consultation services to acute care and community-based patients.
Throughout the Fraser Health Authority we provide integrated, regional, comprehensive palliative care services in a number of settings including 30 Palliative Complex Care Unit (PCCU) beds; consult services in 12 acute care sites as well as in the community and other settings; and support to 126 hospice beds. Additionally, we provide under-graduate and post-graduate teaching in affiliation with the Division of Palliative Care at the University of British Columbia.
As a community hospital, Peace Arch Hospital (148 bed facility) provides a range of primary, secondary and some specialty services, including 24/7 emergency, general and internal medicine, general surgery, select surgical specialties, and maternity and nursery specialties.
White Rock is a pretty seaside resort town located less than an hour from downtown Vancouver. The city is located beside the sprawling sandy beach and warm, shallow waters of Semiahmoo Bay. Attracting a diverse demographic spanning from young families to retirees, White Rock offers the friendliness of a small town with the amenities of a modern urban centre.
One year enhanced skills residency and acquired the Certificate of Added Competence (CAC) through the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Two year Royal College subspecialty in Palliative Medicine.
Eligibility for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is required.
Remuneration is by service contract at a rate set provincially by the Ministry of Health.
