**Position Title ** Bookkeeper

**Status ** Part time, contract.

**Hours of Work** 40 hours per month.

**Work Days** Flexible.

**Rate** $30 - $40/hour

**THE ORGANIZATION**

The Gorge View Society is a non-profit organization offering 166 affordable homes to seniors and families at Chown Place in the Burnside Gorge neighbourhood of Victoria, B.C.

The Gorge View Society seeks a professional bookkeeper who has experience with QuickBooks, using a variety of software and processes and working independently with mínimal supervision.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Bookkeeper will provide finance, and accounting services to support the Gorge View Society. These duties include being responsible for day-to
- day financial operations (A/R and A/P, rent rolls, GST) as well as assisting with budget preparation and monitoring, monthly financial reports and audit preparation.

**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Complete monthly, quarterly and annual bookkeeping using primarily QuickBooks but also companion programs such as Excel.
- Oversee rent remittances and reports.
- Reconcile bank accounts and visa monthly, and produce draft financial statements for Executive Director’s review.
- Prepare and file government reports, including GST.
- Complete and submit financial reports to funders.
- Prepare year-end files for external audit.
- Oversee security of financial affairs.
- Set up new employees including tax rates, special pay and deductions in ADP.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum 3 years experience in bookkeeping, preferable in the non-profit sector.
- Proficient with QuickBooks.
- Ability to use office management software including outlook, excel, and word for the purpose of program record management and basic document creation.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication an asset.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Team player who can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with BC Housing an asset.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $30.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
