**BI Analyst - HCM**

As part of the IT group, this role will the Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to create and manage Cognos BI analytics solutions that turn our data into knowledge. In this role, you should have a background in data and business analysis, preferably in the area of Human Capital Management systems (HCM).. You should be analytical and an excellent communicator. If you also have a business acumen and problem-solving aptitude, we’d like to meet you.

**Responsibilities**:

- Serving as the primary resource for HR and Payroll data requests involving routine data queries, as well as building complex reports, report interfaces/exports and dashboards utilizing UKG Cognos Business Intelligence Reports, Event Studio and other data reporting and visualization tools
- Designing, developing, testing, analyzing and maintaining reports and integrations
- Creating, monitoring & ensuring scheduled/burst reports are delivered timely manner
- Identify opportunities for improvement of related technologies and implement them
- Prioritize, schedule, and administer all instances where enhancements and defect resolution are required
- Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems
- Communicate problems and issues to key stakeholders, including management, development teams, end users, and unit leaders
- Field incoming problem tickets from end users to resolve issues
- Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution in the IT service desk system
- Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved
- Participate in the design, development, and delivery of training programs
- Assist in the development and maintenance user manuals and guidelines
- Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures
- Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation
- Liaise with vendors for efficient implementation of new software products or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues
- Manage and/or provide guidance to junior team members
- Has in-depth knowledge and skills in this discipline; striving to acquire expert level skills
- Uses best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products or services
- Interprets business needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions
- Explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus
- Works independently with mínimal guidance in own area of knowledge
- Can effectively determine own priorities
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
- Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of both standard, and unique activities
- Solves moderately complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions
- Manages own time to meet agreed targets
- Coordinates resources required to meet goals
- Promotes teamwork, coaches and guides others

**Education & Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Technology or MIS from a recognized public or private program and/or 5+ years of relevant experience

**Certifications/ Skills**:

- Demonstrated alignment with and sharing of West Fraser values
- Prior experience with a leading HCM system data (UKG, Workday, Oracle, SAP)
- Understanding of database design, structure, functions and process flow in an integrated and automated HR system
- Specialization in one or more of the following technologies is an asset: Cognos BI or Power BI reporting platforms, relational databases & tools, Java,.NET, SharePoint / Office 365, Oracle Apex

This position will require occasional travel and occasional evening and weekend work to meet deadlines, respond to service interruptions, and perform scheduled maintenance.
