**The Big Picture**:

- This Director of the Regional Offices Branch is one of seven branch directors reporting to the Executive Director. Together with the Political Advisors to the National Officers, they form the Directors Team. Under the general guidance of the Executive Director, the Directors Team constitutes the core group responsible for the operationalization of the work of the union and is accountable for implementing the work mandated by the PSAC membership.- Apart from the broader focus of this position, its core function is ensuring that the Branch is able to successfully plan and execute the activities required for member education, member mobilization, local development, the organizing of new members, and providing other key services to the membership in the various regions of the country. This work is carried out by approximately 170 employees across 24 regional offices and PSAC headquarters.**Primary Responsibilities**:

- The Director of the Regional Offices Branch is responsible for:
- the overall financial, operational, and employee management of the Branch;
- directly supervising and supporting 7 Regional Coordinators, 1 Assistant Director, and the National Organizing and Mobilization teams;
- overseeing the development and implementation of strategic plans to address the union’s education, organizing, local development, political action, and mobilization priorities, in collaboration with PSAC staff and elected officials;
- participating in meetings of the Alliance Executive Committee (AEC) and the National Board of Directors (NBoD);
- advising the union’s senior elected officers on key issues related to the branch’s work;
- building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within the union, and in the broader labour movement;
- ensuring that employees of the branch have the required training, tools, and systems required to succeed.
- Maintaining a discrimination-free workplace that promotes equity and diversity.

**What you will bring to the table**:
**Education/Experience**:

- University degree in Labour Relations, Social Policy, Economics or Public Administration or a related field and experience in these or related fields preferred, or more than ten (10) years of relevant experience in place of a degree.
- Extensive experience in fields of expertise related to the scope of work undertaken by PSAC’s regional offices, i.e.: labour relations, negotiations, organizing, strike mobilization, education, health and safety, political action, strategic planning, organizational change, and membership development.
- Extensive experience in managing a team of at least 20 employees.
- Extensive experience working in a complex political organization.
- Experience in leading organizational change.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of staff relations and pertinent acts and regulations.
- Good knowledge of the organization and structure of the federal public service, and the Canadian Parliamentary system.
- Knowledge of the organizational structures of other employers for whom the PSAC is the bargaining agent.
- Knowledge of union-building techniques and strategies. Proficiency in spelling and vocabulary in both official languages.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team of skilled practitioners in a variety of pressure situations.
- Ability to provide the PSAC leadership with sound counsel
