The Centre for Student Engagement at the University of Toronto Mississauga is committed to creating inclusive learning environments to cultivate holistic student development. Built through meaningful collaboration and informed by research and assessment our campus & community based programs, services and resources promote access to post-secondary education, support transition into and retention through university and encourages student engagement and community engaged learning. With over 90 opportunities led by 180 student leaders and professional staff, the Centre for Student Engagement believes that student involvement is a powerful tool to support an individual’s navigation of the post-secondary environment and to feel empowered to contribute and make an impact within their community.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Access and Transition, the Supervisor, Pre-Arrival Engagement assumes primary responsibility for incoming student program development and delivery aimed at supporting student success. The cornerstone programs of this portfolio include EagleConnect and the Student Program Planning Interactive Exhibition (SPPIE). The Supervisor is the main contact for collaboration with campus partners for incoming UTM students. Additionally this role supports the integration between pre-arrival programs and orientation programming. The Supervisor will support the day to day work of the Student Engagement Events Coordinator, interns and student staff.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
- Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
- Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
- Leading seminars and/or workshops
- Directing the activities of a single ongoing staff-appointed employee
- Directing the activities of casual staff
- Assigning and checking the work of work-study students

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Humanities, Social Sciences or related discipline.
- Minimum five (5) years related experience in student services with demonstrated experience at the post-secondary level.
- Demonstrated experience leading large components of projects.
- Financial Management and budget experience required.
- Experience with supervision and coaching of staff.
- Demonstrated experience building reciprocal relationships with academic and co-curricular partners, students and student groups.
- Experience with evaluation and research tools and a demonstrated knowledge of theory related to student transition, learning development and retention.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to students in a supportive and motivating way.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated workshop development and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work in a highly diverse University community and to work cooperatively with a variety of campus partners in order to foster and support and environment of trust, respect and collaboration.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional learning and development.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the University’s equity and inclusion commitments and the interplay between diversity and the orientation, transition and engagement work of CSE.
- Excellent administrative skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite and electronic learning
