Nature Based Camp Counsellor

We're looking for enthusiastic and patient individuals to join our team for the summer of 2023

**Responsibilities**:

- Get to know the children and their families.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for children.
- Observe children's cues and respond to children's interests to offer activities and opportunities for learning, exploration and fun
- Be able to identify potential problems that could arise during the camp day and develop solutions for them.
- Be a role model for the campers.
- Work as a team with other team members.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents and team members.

Qualifications:

- Experience working with children in educational and recreational settings preferred (but not required for all positions)
- Some experience working with children with exceptionalities is an asset
- Must love the outdoors
- Special expertise in Science, Botany, and/or Ecology an asset
- First Aid/CPR (current)
- Vulnerable Sector Screen police clearance

Job Descriptions

**Head Counselor**

A Head Counselor is responsible for assisting the Camp Coordinator with the planning and implementing of a child-led, inclusive, engaging outdoor nature program for children ages 4 - 12. Head Counselors are responsible for supporting and supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring a safe and positive day camp environment for all.

**Camp Counselor**

A Camp Counselor is responsible for assisting in the planning and delivery of a child-led, inclusive, engaging outdoor nature program for children ages 4 - 12. Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising campers, supporting staff and volunteers, and ensuring a safe and positive day camp environment for all.

**Junior Camp Counselor**

A Junior Camp Counselor is responsible for assisting in the delivery of a child-led, inclusive, engaging outdoor nature program for children ages 4 - 12. Junior Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising campers, supporting staff and volunteers, and ensuring a safe and positive day camp environment for all.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months
Part-time hours: 25-40 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Work Location: One location

Expected start date: 2023-06-26
