Thales people architect solutions that support 85 million mainline and suburban passenger journeys, worldwide, every day. Together We deployed the first-ever nationwide ticketing system which processes over 50 million ticketing transactions in 100 cities daily.

The purpose of Financial Analyst role is to handle financial reporting activities of Ground Transportation Systems Canada Inc. and to extend full support to Financial Controller in month end closing activities including the preparation of monthly Finance Package and forecasting and budgeting. The position will also support as part of the shared services.

Key Functions

Active preparation and support to month-end, year-end close and budgeting processes for Ground Transportation Systems Canada Inc. (GTSC):

- Preparation and timely submission of Magnitude Reporting (according to IFRS and Thales Group standards) as well as preparation and submission of quarterly Financial notes to the statements to the Group
- Preparation and coordination of the monthly internal financial reporting package for Management review
- Preparation of quarterly tax provision and Income Tax package for Annual Corporate return
- Support in annual MYB construction process
- Performs Balance Sheet account reconciliations (must provide analytical insight that supports conclusions)

Financial Analysis:

- Preparation of monthly Income Statement comparison of Actuals to Budgets (variance analysis)
- Preparation of monthly variance analysis of Balance Sheet to budget and forecast (must provide relevant financial information to decision makers)
- Actively supports the daily, weekly and monthly internal reporting requirements for treasury, regular cash reporting
- Liaises with Corporate Central Finance Departments and related financial institutions

Support with Inventory Control:

- Perform a detailed analysis of the Excess and obsolete inventory and assist in annual physical inventory count
- Assist in month end closing activities of inventory and support other stakeholders in the inventory related concerns

Support with Treasury activities:

- Preparation of monthly Operation Cash Flows (OCF) actual, forecast and budget.
- Liaises with Corporate Central Finance Departments and related financial institutions
- Support and ensures compliance with reporting guidelines (GAAP and IFRS) - preparing appropriate documentation and accounting treatment for derivatives

Other responsibilities /tasks:

- Preparation of ad hoc analysis at the request of management
- Direct and/or participation in special projects at the request of management
- Supports other Finance shared Services team members as needed
- Ensures timely resolution of issues
- Drives initiatives to promote streamlined processes, operational efficiency and enhanced internal controls
- Supports new system implementations (when applicable)
- Provides timely Finance support to operational teams as required and facilitates cross-functional communication

Key Requirements:

- Must have University degree with a specialization in Accounting
- Accounting designation (Canadian CPA)
- 7+ years’ experience in financial reporting and analysis

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large accounting software (SAP preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of excel, including advanced functions
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Very Good team working skills
- Experience liaising with external auditors
- Organize workload to meet deadlines and work with little supervision
- Must be able to work under pressure of deadlines
