**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. **Position Summary**:
This Supervisor, Accounting & Accounts Payable supports the Manager in overseeing all daily activities of the department. The position supervises the Accounts Payable team and ensures financial activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Duties include month end close process (including account reconciliation and working papers preparation), oversight of accruals, financial analysis, and reporting, maintaining and continuously improving policies and procedures, maintenance of internal and external service standards and the assurance of appropriate controls.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supervises all Accounts Payable functions to ensure efficient operation and ensures that all necessary reviews and payments are processed in a timely manner and according to policy.
- Identifies knowledge gaps and training needs, makes recommendations to Manager on coaching, development, and performance management for Accounts Payable staff, to enhance efficiency and service standards. Develops and delivers training when needed.
- Monitors and analyzes activities to develop more efficient business processes. Oversees implementation of the policies, procedures, practices, and methods for all reporting areas to support and optimize streamlined, integrated and consistent services. Collaborates with other departments to develop and maintain inter-departmental processes. Develops and provides training when needed.
- Participates in change initiatives relating to improving the PeopleSoft system. Ensures such changes meet the needs of the department, and consults/informs stakeholder departments that may be impacted.
- Prepares decision sheets and information sheets as required for the Director, Accounting Services, the CFO & Corporate Services, and the Senior Executive Team.
- Performs senior level accounting activities such as account reconciliations, reports and forecasts, trial balance and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensures transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger and provides information when required.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.

**Occupational Certification**
- CPA designation.

**Experience**
- 4 - 6 years of progressive experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Recent, relevant, and significant experience in a financial accounting role (usually acquired over a 4 - 6-year period).
- Recent and significant experience in a supervisory or management role (usually acquired over a 2 - 4-year period).
- Experience working with customers or suppliers, with the ability to demonstrate strong customer service background and aptitude.
- Experience in working with all levels of management, including executives and consulting with key business stakeholders.
- Experience working with BC First Nations organizations in a financial capacity, is an asset.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:

- Knowledge of First Nations culture and history in Canada and British Columbia to better understand, and support the mandate, directives, vision, mission, and values of the First Nations Health Authority.
- Broad knowledge of business administration, contract management and other corporate processes.
- Broad knowledge of computerized financial systems and procedures.
- Advance knowledge of GAAP, audit processes and other financial processes.
