Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

**Position Overview**

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Dispatch Manager is a mid-level management position that delivers 24/7 monitoring of the MTCC Communications Centre and is accountable for leading a team of System Status Controllers and Lead System Status Controllers in the day-to-day operations of the MTCC. The Dispatch Manager will take an active role in ensuring a performance based model of accountability is maintained in all areas of operations. The position can be general in nature; however, depending on operational requirements, more emphasis may be placed on Operational, Administrative, Investigative, Budget and Finance, Recruitment, or Quality Improvement roles.

The Dispatch Manager will be competent and may function in the duties of the LSSC or SSC if necessitated by staff shortage or call volume surge. They will liaise with higher levels of management for problem resolution as required. The Dispatch Manager will provide functional guidance to front line staff in all areas of the operations and will provide on-site support and guidance to advanced EMS response programs, such as the rotary wing and fixed wing transport platforms.

Functions are conducted in accordance with the Mission and Values of Shared Health, current policies and procedures and applicable legislation.

**Experience**
- 5 - 10 years of professional experience in a Health Care setting.

**Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)**
- University Degree or Diploma in a Health Care or Management field, or equivalent experience.
- Completion of a System Status Controller training program, including an approved Emergency Medical Dispatch course - may be obtained following hire.

**Certification/Licensure/Registration**
- Maintains Emergency Medical Dispatcher Quality Assurance certification (EMD-Q) with the National Academy of Emergency Dispatch.
- Current CPR Certificate Red Cross Level C or equivalent (minimum).

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Previous experience working in an EMS communications environment.
- Strong understanding of Manitoba EMS programs, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership and team building skills, with the ability to establish and achieve common goals and address conflicts or obstacles in a constructive manner.
- Knowledge of quality assurance principles.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
- Experience/knowledge of performance management systems.
- Strong organizational, decision making and problem solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to display independent judgment.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good understanding of frontline leadership concepts and methodologies.

- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis.
