**Field Experiences Officer, College of Education**:
**Primary Purpose**:To be an integral part of the Field Experiences team by participating in building relationships between the College of Education and external partners and First Nations people related to field experiences. To support the field experience team by being the first point of contact for:
2) all school and division partners and other external partners related to field experiences; and,
3) directing all other communication and placement issues as they arise.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Director of Field Experiences in the College of Education and in collaboration with members of the Field Experience team and the Undergraduate Programs Office, the successful applicant will engage in partnership initiatives at the school level. The work requires an understanding of the work of a teacher through lived experience. Work-related travel in the province for the purposes of building relationships with educational partners may be required. Work outside of normal business hours (evenings and weekends), travel, and flexibility are requirements of this position.

Working in a complex environment, this position requires discretion, tact, professionalism and a commitment to continuous improvement. The work requires the ability to understand and accurately communicate field placements as required by various College of Education programs and B.Ed. program routes, and the need to prioritize to meet competing deadlines and demands.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Develop and maintain effective and ongoing relationships with officials in the Saskatchewan PreK to Grade 12 school system, at peer institutions, regional colleges, adult learning and community-based organizations, and Metis and First Nations communities.
- Provide timely and effective communication with students and school partners seeking assistance; create outgoing mass communications; and prioritize and direct other related communications.
- Encourage and empower students to assume responsibility for their academic career.
- Model a high standard of performance and outcomes; ensure positive, diverse and respectful work environments.
- Participate in meetings and support the field team as required.
- Collaborate with the field team to provide all learning materials and opportunities for all field experiences (i.e., EDST 213, EDST 321, EDST 322, EXPR 422, EDST 215, and related courses).
- Term planning for various field experiences (team decision making, responsibilities, workflow, etc.).
- Assist in the planning and delivery of practicum in-service sessions in consultation with the field team.
- Create presentations (including PowerPoint) for information sessions and orientation sessions for various field practica.
- Develop new resources for changes in deliverables for field practica.
- Present to classes when asked and in collaboration with the Field Experiences Team.
- Field facilitation, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Education**: Bachelor’s degree is required (B.Ed. is strongly preferred).

Familiarity with rural and northern communities is considered an asset; A thorough understanding of First Nation, Metis and Inuit protocols; knowledge of First Nations, Metis and Inuit policies and practices in First Nations educational jurisdictions; thorough understanding of the University environment and related policies, procedures and regulations; demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of people in a complex environment; knowledge and sensitivity to First Nations and off campus communities is required.
