**Project Coordinator, College of Medicine**:
**PRIMARY PURPOSE**

To provide leadership and expertise in the development, management, coordination, and evaluation of the Funding Initiatives executed by the Office of the Vice Dean Research in the College of Medicine.

**NATURE OF WORK**

Reporting to the Director of Research, College of Medicine, the Project Coordinator oversees the administration of annual faculty and undergraduate student funding initiatives and plays a pivotal role in coordinating and implementing related policies and procedures.

With expertise in the day-to-day operations of internal research funding, the Project Coordinator proactively identifies gaps in administrative processes and collaborates with the Director of Research to develop solutions that enhance efficiency. This role requires strong project coordination skills and sound judgment in a complex environment.

The Project Coordinator interacts regularly with faculty, administrators, and students, fostering professional relationships to provide guidance on College of Medicine research funding policies and procedures. Additionally, this role builds and maintains strategic relationships with both internal and external partners to ensure smooth administration of research initiatives.

Success in this role requires a solid understanding of university operations and project management principles. The Project Coordinator must balance multiple projects and deadlines, working both independently and within a team, in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. Accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are essential to support research initiatives and uphold the College’s reputation.

- Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of internal standard operating procedures to guide OVDR research funding initiatives.
- Identify and address administrative gaps in processes and services, working with the Director of Research to implement solutions.
- Undertake other projects or initiatives that align with the strategic goals of the OVDR as identified and approved by the Vice Dean Research and the Director of Research.

**Funding Initiatives Support (80%)**
- Manage and coordinate administrative processes for all faculty funding initiatives, including but not limited to CoMRAD, CoMBRIDGE, and FAIR.
- Manage and coordinate the summer student research projects, including the Dean’s Projects, Undergraduate Biomedical Projects, Interdisciplinary Summer Research Program, and the MD Research Experience and MD Volunteer database.
- Manage EJS submissions and processing in conjunction with the Finance team.
- Oversee payments to students, faculty, and staff by managing award letters and processing applicable payments.
- Review and refine research administrative procedures, focusing on continuous improvement for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations, keeping up-to-date with College of Medicine policy changes and communicating updates to relevant departments and researchers.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**: A Bachelor’s degree in a Health, Psychology or Social Sciences discipline is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

**Experience**: A minimum of five years of experience dealing with diverse operational issues in research administration. A good working knowledge of University policies and procedures and the UniFi System. Demonstrated experience in research project management. Experience supporting students and faculty in research will be considered a strong asset for this position.

The ability to effectively manage work under mutually agreed schedule
