**What do you offer?**

This Y program is an innovative, evidence-based, youth-informed, early intervention program for youth experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression by focusing on providing fundamental emotional and social support. This program delivers 3 cycles and 10 sessions of Mental Health First Aid annually.

The Mental Wellness Facilitator reports to the Senior Director, Employment and Newcomer Services. This position will provide leadership and supervision to the program and ensure positive and professional communication with clients on an ongoing basis.

**Some of the tasks of this position include**:

- Engaging young people in early-intervention mental wellness support.
- Supporting participants who experience mild-to-moderate anxiety to learn effective skills to cope with their symptoms.
- Educating participants about the tools and strategies from the main concepts of ACT and mindfulness.
- Creating a safe environment for participants to connect with others who have similar experiences.
- Completing an intake and assessment of program applicants to determine anxiety levels.
- Co-facilitating the program and individual follow-up sessions.
- Where appropriate, referring applicants and participants to additional support by contacting relevant community agencies

**What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?**

**Education**
- Higher level education in a mental health or counselling related field (e.g. Master’s in Counselling or Social Work)

**Language**
- Fluent in English, oral and written

**Experience, Skills and Abilities**
- Experience working with people (13-30 years of age) who are experiencing mild-to-moderate anxiety and mood problems.
- Experience facilitating mental wellness and/or psycho-educational groups.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience conducting intakes and assessments.
- Ability to recognize mental health signs and symptoms beyond the mild-to-moderate spectrum and provide referrals to appropriate agencies.
- Excellent administrative skills.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
- Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required.
- Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
