- As a Skills Instructor Support, you will provide logistics, and administrative support to the instructors who are assigned to train and instruction relating to use of force tactics, techniques and procedures including lawful authority and policy. The position will aid Instructors in observing student performance using practical evaluations. Consistently demonstrates the Core Values of the Calgary Police Service (CPS) through supporting the instructor. Primary duties include:

- Provide support to the instructor by ensuring equipment is properly stored, maintained and prepped for use before, during and after training. Assist in ensuring all documentation is properly logged and filed in the data repository.

Support the instructors to ensure the learning outcomes for each scenario are met.
Assist other members and the Officer Safety & Tactics Training Unit (OSTTU) with auditing all sworn members’ qualifications to ensure their standards are met.
- **Working Conditions**:The position is physically demanding and at times may be required to wear a duty belt that weighs roughly 25 lbs., body armour weighing 5 lbs, and may be required to lift weight up to 30 lbs.

**Qualifications**
***A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) plus a minimum of 5 years experience in a related field.
Previous experience in adult education or in a learning environment is required.
Experience as a Subject Control Instructor or Use of Force Instructor, repairing and maintaining firearms and in criminal law or a related field would be an asset.
Police training courses, which may include Criminal Investigative Training, Criminal Search and Seizure/Arrest and Detention, Investigative Interviewing Techniques, a certificate in “Foundations of Instruction” course or equivalent, or a Basic Firearms Instructor’s from a recognized and reputable agency are considered an asset.
Previous experience with training using a rubrics system is also considered an asset.
Valid Full Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) and a Driving Abstract with no more than 6 demerit points (current within 3 months) and no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
**Pre-employment Requirements**An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
