As a team member of the Calgary Police Service Air Support Team, you will be Pilot in Command of an Airbus H125 helicopter providing safe and efficient flight operations to support members of the Calgary Police Service (CPS), and citizens of Calgary in the swift response to detect, reduce and prevent crime. The Calgary Police Air Support Unit helicopter operates day and night utilizing the most recent technology available and in accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Calgary Police Service Air Support Unit Operations Manual. Primary duties include pre and post flight duties, flight planning, daily aircraft inspections and to safely conduct flight operations by day and night with also utilizing Night Vison Goggles during night flight operations. Working Conditions: This position is required to work shift work as scheduled in both an office and flying duty environment. You will be required to work both day and night shifts. On average, CPS pilots fly between 500 and 700 hours each per year. There may be exposure to noise, chemicals, fumes and temperature variations on a regular basis. Heavy lifting may be required. Travel is required for maintaining Pilot currency and qualifications as detailed by current Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR¿s) and the Calgary Police Service policy and procedures. Qualifications 

·A High School Diploma or equivalency.

·A valid Full Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent).

·A valid and current Canadian Commercial Helicopter Pilots License (CPL(H) or ATPL(H)).

·A valid and current Canadian Aeronautical Radio Licenseand a valid and current Canadian Category 1 Medical Certificate.

·A Minimum of 3,000 hours (Helicopter) with no less than 2,500 hours shall be as Pilot in Command (Helicopter). Aviation accident and incident free.

·A Canadian valid and current Group IV Instrument Rating.

·A valid and current Canadian Helicopter Night Rating with a minimum of 20 hours PIC night experience.

·Knowledge of the Calgary area, for example; aeronautical, geographical, weather and experience flying in busy controlled airspace.

·Working knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards, and electronic aviation systems, equipment, and programs.

·An (AS350) Aircraft Type Rating Endorsement with current experience (within the past 12 months) on this aircraft, especially the H125 variant would be considered an asset.

·Be Advanced NVG (NVIS) Qualified and current would also be considered an asset.

·Excellent communicator with relationship building skills that help to coach and develop. You are able to anticipate challenges and prioritize urgent issues, optimizing time and resources while making effective decisions in stressful environments while having aviation safety as the priority.
