We are not a child care centre - but rather a recreational program for children. We are seeking a full time summer camp staff member. **Experience working with large groups of children is required.**

The Makery is a unique program that offers play based, exciting experiences to people of all ages. Within our four play spaces, we offer:

- STEM Lab (a huge variety of building materials for children to engage with such as LEGO, magnet tiles, magnet wall with ramps, wooden blocks, etc - as well as simple coding robots, 3D printers, and more)
- Move Lab (gross motor equipment and lots of space for games and big movements)
- Mess Lab (filled with art materials that can be used for process based art experiences and messy play. We also offer regular slime making activities.)
- Light Lab (glow light room that offers unique sensory experiences)

We are looking to add a Play Ambassador to our team that has experience working with children and loves planning exciting activities alongside the children.

This is a full time position during the **summer months**, with the **opportunity to help on other school closure days throughout the year as well, if available.**

You would be responsible for:

- Preparing and facilitating experiences for children ages 5 - 12
- Being actively involved with the children at all times
- Helping to ensure our space is tidy and materials are prepared in advance for activities
- Assist children in problem solving when needed
- Assist parents in answering any questions or resolving any issues that may arise
- Ensuring the safety of the children
- Perform additional tasks as needed

Required skills:

- Strong English speaking/writing ability
- Excellent communication skills
- Well organized
- Work well under pressure
- Professional and friendly demeanour
- Resourcefulness & eagerness to learn new things
- Accepting of change and okay going with the flow when needed
- Able to multi task
- A positive, upbeat, attitude
- Early childhood education training or experience with children is an asset
- A criminal record check will be required
