**MANAGER, RETURN TO WORK & WCB CLAIMS**

**The Opportunity**

As a member of the People and Culture team, the RTW & WCB Claims Manager is an ambassador of claims management, providing strategic and day-to-day guidance fleet wide. You liaise with external regulatory agencies on behalf of BC Ferries and act as a company representative at hearings and meeting arising from STIIP or WCB matters.

Your manage WCB claims of sensitive nature, working closely within the People Experience departments in order to facilitate efficient return to work processes for injured employees. You manage claim appeals and assist with preparations for oral hearings, lead RTW programs through education and training, and support the RTW specialists and employees in this process. As well as ensure regulatory compliance across the organization, working collaboratively with WorkSafeBC and the company to achieve balanced solutions.

**Responsibilities**
- Managing research and analysis initiatives and develops data collection and reporting frameworks as well as analytical models to support policy and program development, review and management activities, including, but not limited to, the generation of reports and the review of trends, program uptake and success rates
- Developing and implementing the delivery of the department's return-to-work and case management programs, defining objectives and establishing roles, responsibilities and processes, and monitoring and reporting mechanisms
- Developing staff and managerial capacity to ensure the effective provision of case management services
- Building consultative and collaborative relationships with employee representatives, third-party providers, senior/middle management, departmental committees, managers and employees, and central agencies, provincial regulatory bodies and other levels of government on the various aspects and issues pertaining to Disability Management Programs
- Intervening and seeking resolution of program
- or case-related conflicts and develops responses to, and advises on, complex cases to managers, staff and third-party service providers
- Managing communications strategies and initiatives and other materials that increase awareness of the Disability Management Program and related procedures, rules, guidelines and regulatory processes that affect disability management, rehabilitation programs, insurance claims, case administration, and return-to-work programs and services

**Qualifications and Skills**

You have superior knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC policies and practice, directives and claims management procedures. You demonstrate strong leadership skills, are detail oriented, and a strong verbal and written communicator. You have a passion for Occupational Safety, and ability to review and provide guidance on complex matters. You are familiar with delivering training and education. You strive to meet goals and motivate others to do the same.
