**ABOUT ROAST**

ROAST is an upscale Butcher and Fine Foods shop located at 786 St. Clair Avenue West, in the up-and-coming Hillcrest neighbourhood. Since December 2013, customers have enjoyed an immaculate display of locally-sourced and naturally-raised meats, fresh produce, farm dairy, Blackbird Bakery breads and other fine food products, along with an array of deliciously prepared meals cooked by our in-house chef.

**CANDIDATE OVERVIEW**

As a customer-service professional, you excel at building relationships with people and learning the benefits of your product. You deliver exceptional customer service in all that you do. With a positive personality, you are at ease working with others and feel comfortable in a busy, retail food environment. You are detailed-oriented, flexible and can work well shifting priorities as needed.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage and serve customers with the highest regard for exceptional service
- Work cooperatively with back of house staff for efficiency in operations
- Participate occasionally in staff training with regard to product knowledge and daily processes
- Ensure consistent product rotation
- Maintain cleanliness daily throughout the shop, meeting health and safety requirements
- Any other tasks or training as needed, or that may become required as the company grows

**TIME REQUIREMENTS**
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required
- Must be available to work additional hours leading up to busy holiday periods or special events
- Part-time available (20-35 hours per week)
- Full-time available (40-44 hours per week)

**QUALIFICATIONS**

Skills/Knowledge
- A strong communicator, with the ability to develop positive relationships with customers, suppliers and co-workers
- Displays integrity and commitment in making decisions for the best interest of the organization
- An ability to shift priorities as needed
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of food retail best practices, an asset

Education
- Any degree, diploma, or certificate related to cooking, food or retail, an asset
- Food Handler’s certification, an asset

**COMPENSATION**

Starting rate of pay is $16 per hour. Increases in pay can be rapid, and are determined by degree of progress in training, level of skills, increases in responsibility, and overall motivation and positivity toward learning. Permanent employees will receive Health Benefits and paid Personal Days once they meet eligibility requirements. Roast provides a staff meal once per day for all employees on shift, prepared by our in-house chef. All employees are also eligible for the staff discount on grocery items.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 20-44 per week

**Salary**: From $16.00 per hour
