**Role**:
Reporting to the Director of Water Management, the position is accountable for overseeing construction, rehabilitation/reconstruction of existing and new water management infrastructure located in the central and northern regions of the province.
The Team Lead has direct oversight of projects as well as a team of engineers and technologists delivering projects. In addition, this role provides specialist review and construction expertise for new and rehabilitation water management infrastructure projects. This includes direct review of projects, mentoring staff and updating department guidelines as well as specifications.
**Core responsibilities of the position include**:
- Managing the implementation of water management projects in the central and northern area, taking full responsibility for the project scope, schedule and cost
- Providing specialist review and construction expertise to project managers and department staff
- Providing leadership, mentoring and support for the team
- Assisting in coordination and implementation of the provincial water management capital and maintenance budgets
**Qualifications**:
**Required**:
- University Degree in Civil Engineering (or other related degree), supplemented by at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience with water management infrastructure as well as project management
- Supervisory experience is considered a strong asset
- Registered or eligibility for registration as a professional engineer with APEGA
**Desired**:
- Knowledge and understanding of construction contract documents with specifications and their interpretations
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including but not limited to _Occupational Health and Safety Act_, _Alberta Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act_,_ Alberta Water Act_, _Fisheries Act_,_ Public Lands Act_, _Historical Resources Act_, etc.
- Understanding of department guidelines, standards, specifications and policies
- Effective communication skills to develop and maintain relationships with partners, the department, and other government ministries, municipalities and the public
- Experience working with Indigenous groups and landowners is a significant asset
- Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong, effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and conflict resolution skills

$3,567.34 to $4,735.25 bi-weekly ($93,107 - $123,590/year).
