CBC Olympics has built a reputation for “best in class” content and sport production. We take pride in producing “athlete-centric” content giving priority to their own voice as the obvious stars of our show. Documenting the athlete’s experience over a career ensures our audience understands the importance of the moment and has a connection to the story as it unfolds live in our coverage. We work closely with external partners, CBC Media Solutions and CBC Olympic programming to tell stories - people believe.

**Your Role**

As Producer you would plan, in collaboration with the Unit Production Manager and the Executive Producer, the financial, production and resource requirements for the creation of Olympic athlete features. You will contribute creative ideas and work with the features team on bringing those ideas to life.

During program preparation, production and post-production, you are responsible and accountable for exercising budget authority.

You will be required to regularly coordinate the work of others, including planning the work schedules of others to meet business needs.

**Key Tasks**:

- Contributes ideas for feature content; participates in the preparation of series objectives.
- Develop content including field producing/directing, researching, writing, and editing.
- Prepare scripts; ensure adherence to the style and format of the program.
- Story produce / story edit content.
- Organize the participation of interviewees, develops background, introduction, and line of questioning, conducts any necessary research, and ensures the briefing of hosts (where applicable).
- Assign, coordinate and supervise the work of coworkers and contributors to ensure all content needed is captured.
- Ensure, in collaboration with Copyright Clearance Officers or others, the proper and accurate clearance of all material used in the program.
- Exercise editorial responsibility as delegated by Management, ensuring stories meet CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Procedures.

**What you bring**:

- At least five years' experience of which three must involve work in broadcasting, storytelling, documentary films, TV production or a closely related industry.
- A portfolio that includes examples of experience in conducting interviews, research & fact checking, overseeing edits & sound mixes.
- A commitment to finding diverse, non-traditional voices.
- Intercultural competencies with a focus on connecting with and growing new audiences.
- Experience working in both traditional media, such as television broadcast and digital content production.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Including the ability to edit or rework the work of others, and to clearly explain concepts to peers and management.
- A team player willing to do a variety of tasks as required in a small unit and to adapt to changing work patterns and methods.
- The ability to handle multiple priorities and to respond to many competing demands in a short space of time.
- You have a unique perspective and innovative vision.
- You bring a collaborative approach to new ideas and processes.
- You have the ability to take critical feedback and incorporate it into the work.
- A strong sense of journalistic urgency and demonstrated ability to work under tight and firm deadlines.
- The ability to solve problems independently and in group discussions.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns and methods.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, overtime and weekends as required. (for example, during the Olympics or other international sporting events).
- If you are bilingual (English and French) that would be an asset.
