**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Security Services, the Security Specialist will perform daily scheduled assessments of security measures to improve the safety of students and staff, conduct investigations and provide onsite response to schools during emergencies and critical incidents.

**Job Duties/Responsibilities**:

- performing security audits of Division facilities on a regular basis including Emergency Response Plan audits
- liaising with school administration regarding daily operations and available resources
- providing a security presence in Division buildings to maintain order in public and private meetings
- supporting schools with bylaw enforcement duties
- conducting investigations concerning illegal and unauthorized activities such as thefts, break and enters and vandalism
- liaising with Edmonton Police Service and providing evidence regarding security investigations

**Education/Qualifications**:

- a diploma in Policing or a related field
- valid Alberta Security service worker license
- a minimum of one year related experience including knowledge of criminal law, investigations experience, Incident Command System training and CPTED Level 1 training
- demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement in emergency situations
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- experience with report writing and documentation

**Rate of Pay**:
$2,552.90 - $3,256.40 bi-weekly
