**Your role**

Radio-Canada Saskatchewan is looking for an energetic and forward-thinking Associate Producer to take on a vital support role. You will be assigned to gather, write and present program material for all our media platforms. You will participate in the production, direction and/or post-production of a program and/or program segment. Guidance and direction are regularly available from one or more producers, but there is latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Work must obey CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and program policies, standards and practices. There may be opportunities to coordinate the work of others, and close co-operation with the program unit is essential.

Key tasks:

- Oversee control room operations, continuity music and on-air presentation for the show, ensuring that sound modulation remains constant.
- Prepare the daily cue sheet as instructed by the Producer.
- Select music for the show.
- Prepare, extract and clean up audio elements (columns, clips, etc.) used on air.
- Contribute ideas for program content and help develop program objectives.
- Assist in developing program content (includes writing, researching and/or editing). Prepare scripts, ensuring adherence to the style and format of the program.
- Organize appearances of interviewees, creative contributors and other guests on the program; develop background, intros and lines of questioning; conduct or arrange for any necessary research; and ensure briefing of hosts. Maintain contact files.
- Prepare interview question lines for the Producer and Host.
- Attend the daily story meeting, which includes feedback on the show and planning.
- Check that the musical selections on the cue sheet are available and download the songs.
- Record promos and recurring items.
- Conduct musical research for station IDs, theme songs and stings, and maintain the show’s overall on-air sound.
- Assist the team with technical equipment and Dalet editing.
- Prepare material for special editions and remotes per the schedule.
- Assist the Producer in co-ordinating the technical aspects of remotes (booking lines, studios, etc.)
- Perform linkups so that guests/reporters can appear in other Radio-Canada studios across the country as needed.
- Confirm and verify NGCN bookings.
- Record interviews with the Host and ensure the audio quality of the final product.
- Print out the show’s cue sheet.
- Ask the Producer or Host to vet articles being posted online and ensure that related audio files are properly entered in Sonart.
- Participate in the evaluation of all aspects of the production.
- University degree or equivalent.
- Experience in booking interview guests, developing lines of questioning, writing focused introductions and preparing and writing tape segments.
- Capable of original and creative thought in the production of news for radio, TV and digital platforms, with demonstrated writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: must be a team player.
- Comfortable with the demands and needs of television, radio and digital news production.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to solve problems independently and in group discussions (openness to new ideas and approaches).
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required.
- Understanding of the structure and workflow of Radio-Canada News in regional centres, and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with counterparts in other centres.
- Strong knowledge of Saskatchewan and the issues facing the Franco-Saskatchewanian community.
