We are currently seeking an energetic and collaborative individual to join our team as an Advisor in the Consumer Policy & Compliance department. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the OEB’s codes and rules related to low-volume energy consumers (generally residential and small business). Ensure compliance by regulated entities (including utilities, energy retailers, and unit sub-meter providers) with their obligations to low-volume consumers. Monitor developments and trends in the energy sector and the development of related operational policies. Other responsibilities include in-depth analysis of potential issues identified in complaints against regulated entities to be sure they are following the rules.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assists senior advisors on policy development initiatives
- Provides guidance on compliance with regulatory / legislative requirements and whether proposed policies meet those requirements
- Maintain a current level of understanding of relevant policy issues of importance to the OEB
- Demonstrated ability to exercise diplomacy and build rapport as well as maintain effective relationships stakeholders, including participating in working group and stakeholder sesssions
- Ensures compliance of electricity and natural gas distributors, unit sub-meter providers and energy retailers with respect to the regulatory / legislative requirements through compliance reviews where potential issues have been identified in customer complaints, industry enquiries or from stakeholders
- Provide research reviews of practices in other jurisdictions/sectors to establish industry best practices and identify how the OEB policies compare or may be adapted
- Assists in developing recommendations for compliance actions against licensees
- Develops and monitors reporting criteria

Qualifications:

- **Undergraduate degree in economics, commerce, public policy or related discipline**:

- Experience in a regulated industry, public utility or energy service provider is preferred
- 2-3 years of experience dealing with research and analysis
- 2-3 years of experience dealing with policy development and review
- Polished and professional verbal, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and written communication skills
- Experience performing jurisdictional reviews and providing recommendations
- Professional certifications in project management and process management would be an asset.
- Experience with investigating, evidence collecting and enforcement of policy would be an asset
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills are required
