**Program Coordinator - Respite**
- Please note, this is a part-time (26.25 hours) in-person/in-community role. _

**Reports To: Program Director**

**General Description**

The primary focus of the Program Coordinator is to be responsible for the ongoing recruitment of families who will provide respite for parents/caregivers of autistic children/youth.

Under the direction of the Program Director, the Program Coordinator will also be responsible for the Intake procedure involving the introduction of the Respite providers and the natural families including maintaining an ongoing respite schedule.

**Duties**

Typical duties include:
1. Interviewing and hiring respite contractors.

2. Ensuring all documentation pertaining to contracting is completed including Criminal Record Checks.

3. Setting up respite schedules.

4. Liaising with respite providers/natural families.

5. Monitor the budget and program spending while maintaining ongoing financial records.

6. Work with the Program Director in maintaining quality of Program and ensuring adequate communication between families and respite providers.

7. Preparing records and performing other duties as required.

8. Ensure that all weekend log notes and all other relevant communication/information are entered into the client management system (Penelope.)

9. Recruiting respite providers including placing ads in local newspapers, boards and communities.

**Academic and Specialized Abilities**
- Child Care Diploma (2 year) from a recognized program. An equivalent in relevant education and experience will be considered.
- Prior supervisory experience is mandatory.
- At least 3 years of experience in working with foster families.
- Prior experience in both the recruitment of foster homes as well as doing Home Studies.
- Experience in family counseling and working with youth.

**Basic Abilities**
- Good verbal, written and inter-personnel skills.
- Must have tact, sound judgment, humour, empathy, and the ability to gain the confidence of foster and natural families.
- Ability to maintain and calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Motivated and self-sufficient.
- Ability to effectively communicate and report to foster parents, natural families and the immediate supervisor.

**Additional Requirements**
- Criminal Record Check required
- Must possess current Low Arousal De-escalation (LAT) certification.
- Must possess current acceptable First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must have a valid B.C. Driver’s License. Use of own car required with mileage reimbursement.
- Must provide proof of satisfactory driving record (driver’s abstract) from ICBC.
- Must have verification of vehicle insurance with $2,000,000 liability coverage.
