- This is specialized work in the field of library technical services. An incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for managing bibliographic descriptive metadata and resource description and access to enable effective resource discovery for students, faculty, and library staff. This position also supports acquisitions functions in the Library, and participates in the support of direct public services functions.
- Based within the Technical Services area, you will be carrying out a variety of library acquisition functions that include placing, verifying, and modifying orders, cataloguing various formats, and communicating with vendors, students, and other CapU employees. In this role, you will be part of an integrated team that provides services, resources, and spaces that contribute to the University’s aims to provide a distinct university experience that sparks the imagination and creativity of our community.
- We are looking for someone who will collaborate with colleagues and interact with students, faculty, and members of the community, and provide referral and information services such as locating print and digital resources, circulating materials, creating user accounts, providing printing technical support, handling payments, maintaining patron and item records, and performing opening/closing duties.
- You will report to the University Librarian and receive direction from the Technical Services Supervisor.**What you’ll bring**
- Successful completion of an accredited 2-year Library Technician program diploma
- Minimum four years of related experience in library cataloguing.
- Information organization and retrieval in a library environment
- Integrated Library Systems (ILS) - (Capilano University Library uses Sierra)
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, & PowerPoint)
- Cataloguing utilities such as MarcEdit
- Acquisitions processes, including placing orders, generating reports, developing purchase requests, and following up with vendors

**Days and Hours of Work**
- Work week: 35 hours per week. Work is conducted primarily on campus, However, CapU offers some flexibility in working conditions and there is an opportunity to request a compressed work schedule for modified work weeks.
