We are looking for a Technical Communication (technical writing) trainee to join the R&D team at the Ottawa site. You will be a member of the Business Applications Device Management HDM R&D. You will develop end-user documentation and user assistance in DITA XML, and use content management tools (Git) for version control and branching. We deliver HTML documentation embedded in the product. With us, you will have the opportunity to learn how to develop content and software user assistance for a variety of audiences in a continuous delivery mode.

**What you will learn and contribute to**

As part of our team, you will:

- Responsible for developing customer documentation for a release, patch or Agile sprints for HDM product
- Plan, design, write, update and review documentation (including graphics and rich media)
- Engage with R&D, PLM, Services, and Hosted teams to collect inputs, elicit feedback, and address issues accrued in documentation backlogs
- Create Release Notes and/or Patch Readmes as well as Release Highlights pages
- Peer review, peer edit, and perform final checks. Share knowledge and train others in your area of expertise

- Excellent English communication skills in both writing and speaking
- Strong time management and self discipline skills
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment with international colleagues and ability to cope with tight deadlines

It would be nice if you also had:

- Enthusiasm, curiosity, and motivation to learn and try new things
- Interested in exploring opportunities for automation and streamlining
- Ability to solve complex problems logically
- Experience using XML Editor to create customer documentation (Oxygen, DITA, or similar)
- Knowledge with Python, shell script
