Jr. Safety Officer

Noyen Construction has been in business since 1964. With over 55 years of civil and industrial heavy construction, Noyen is looking for a site based safety advisor to join our team.
Noyen Construction has over one million hours with no lost time incidents and we are looking for someone with a safety culture that aligns with ours.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Representing Noyen Construction and communicate with the Client on a daily basis and to represent the Company in a professional manner.
- Only perform tasks and or use equipment for which they are competent.
- Refuse to perform unsafe work and agree to intervene on all unsafe acts and conditions.
- Ensure all required site Health & Safety policies, procedure and personnel are in place and adhered to. In addition, to take corrective action where required to ensure a safety for all and protection of the environment Advise the Health Safety & Environment (HSE) activities as it relates in planning, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Execute the Projects in accordance with Company Corporate Policy.
- Develop and implement Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Safe Work Procedures specific to the site
- Monitor and evaluate employees and sub-contractors for compliance with General Contractor Safety Requirements and Company Safety Policies and Procedures This position will be 80% field and 20% field office Assist, advise and work with manager(s) and supervisors with:
- Hazard identification and control
- Inspections/Audits
- Investigations
- Reports
- Orientations
- Training
This position will be Monday-Friday between 10 and 12 hour days, working every other weekend. Noyen offers benefits, RRSP matching and an excellent holiday allotment. We are looking for an outgoing person with experience in civil construction.
Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of related legislation and the ability to interpret the regulations and laws
- Ability to work with limited supervision, in a team environment with great attention to detail
- The capacity to problem solve and thrive in high pressure situations
- Ability to influence staff at various levels to promote loss prevention
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Proficient user of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Experience with ISNet World is an asset.

Requirements for this position would be:
**Active NCSO**
- 0-3 years of experience
- A background in construction
- Pre-Access D&A
- Class 5 Drivers License
We are looking for someone for our construction season. This has the potential to become a full time position. Days are Monday-Friday, on call every other weekend.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour
