**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Director of Child and Family Services, this position is responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of community programs that are culturally relevant and focused on increasing family wellness and identity. The long-term goal of the prevention program is to reduce the number of children coming into care and ensure children remain connected to their community, families, and culture.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provides leadership and guidance to the community-based team that supports families through referral and resource connection and delivers community and culturally relevant programming.
- Responsible for providing leadership and direction for day-to-day operations of the prevention unit:

- Schedules and facilitates the Prevention Unit team meetings.
- Completes weekly 1:1 meeting with team members
- Manages the referral workflow and delegates the referrals to the Prevention Team Lead and Coordinators
- Tracks event plans
- Manages the Prevention Unit budget.
- Completes annual reporting for Indigenous Services Canada (ISC)
- Provides direct support for families as required
- Administrative duties as required (i.e., request for purchase, purchase authorizations)
- Oversee the operations of the remote Prevention Unit offices, including budget, staffing, and interdepartmental coordination.
- Work with the Prevention Unit Team Lead to develop the prevention programming calendar.
- Planning, implementation, and evaluation of services and activities within the communities of Athabasca Tribal Council.
- Collaborates with CFS Director to ensure the Multi-Year Plan is completed for ISC.
- Assists with the completion of the ATC Strategic Plan for the Prevention Unit.
- Leads an inter-disciplinary team and works as a team member with colleagues and co-workers while collaborating with key community and external stakeholders.
- Interacts and communicates with ATC Directors, First Nations community administration departments, schools, and community partners.
- Completion of annual performance reviews for the prevention team.
- Attend inter-agency meetings with community partners that are purposeful to the prevention unit.
- Other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary education in social development, community development or human services (i.e., Bachelor of Social Work degree).
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related community development experience, including direct supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Previous experience managing department budgets is considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills with word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs.
- Ability to complete program assessments and reporting is required.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak Dene/Cree is an asset.
- Strong computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and/or database programs and ability to complete program assessment and reporting are required.
