Fraser River All Nations Aboriginal Society is a small non-profit in Maple Ridge, serving the Ridge Medows area. We are professional, supportive, collaborative, and our goal is to provide srevices programs for the Indigenous community to acknowledge their past, present, and future generations.

The objective of this program is to strengthen women’s connections to their community and to promote healthy life skills and choices. The facilitator works to empower women to be grounded in their First Nation, Metis, and Inuit heritage and towards success in life, to involve women in traditional ceremonies and cultural events to gain knowledge for healthy independence and self-esteem. Alongside the Elder, the facilitator is the support to group members to ensure the circle maintains focus on topics and activities. The facilitator directs the discussions to reflect the group dynamics and the importance of urban Indigenous women’s issues. A successful facilitator will have knowledge of community resources to share with the women and encourage a sharing with their peers to promote healthy relationships and connections to community.

**Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and other events.
- Develop agendas and materials for meetings and workshops.
- Provide guidance and support to participants in order to ensure successful outcomes.
- Responsible for monthly reports, expenses and budget for the program.
- Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all participants.
- Facilitate workshops, healing circles, and talking circles; and when appropriate coordination a visiting facilitator in order to bring in expertise to the group
- Coordinate snacks or participating in food preparation to build healthy life skills
- Connect members of the group in planning of local ceremonies and Indigenous events in the community as part of the social engagement benefits
- Connect members to local Elders and Knowledge keeper

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

**Salary**: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

- Evening shift

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
