Sessional Instructor

We currently have an opportunity, for a sessional Bookkeeping Instructor, to teach in our Bookkeeping Professional certificate program. Courses are expected to take place primarily in-person in Maple Ridge with some potential for online classes in the future.
- Accounting fundamentals
- Accounting terminology
- The accounting cycle
- Debits and credits
- Journal entries, how to record daily business transactions of revenue, expenses and payroll
- How to complete account reconciliations
- How to prepare financial statements of a trial balance, statement of earnings (income statement) and statement of financial position (balance sheet)
- Teach critical, independent thinking and problem-solving skills

In addition, we are looking for an instructor knowledgable and capable of course/curriculum development in the areas of cost management and payroll management. Knowledge of tax laws an asset. Familiarity with Quickbooks and Sage an asset.

As an instructor, you are passionate about teaching, have superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, have a great attitude, can engage and maintain students’ attention, have the ability to teach at all learning levels, and strive to facilitate students’ success. Most of our students are relatively new to bookkeeping and accounting concepts so patience and clarity of instruction is a must.
