- Reporting to the Director, Corporate Strategy & Government Relations, the Manager of Business Support Services leads a multi-disciplinary team that provides business support services to the Community Development (CDC) and Community Infrastructure Commissions (CIC).
- This position calls for a dynamic and experienced leader capable of providing leadership and support in the implementation of corporate and commission initiatives and projects, focused on business planning and change initiatives that boost process efficiency and optimize service delivery. As part of the Corporate Strategy & Government Relations management team, the role is accountable for developing and executing a variety of projects and initiatives that address departmental, corporate, and Council objectives.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**
- As the Manager, Business Support Services you will:
**Leadership and Management**
- Provide leadership and direction to a specialized workforce in delivering diverse business support services.
- Be responsible for all aspects of staff management including recruitment, selection, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Provide strategic advice and consultation to management.
- Serve as a member of the department management team.

**Planning and Implementation**
- Work closely with Commissioners and Directors to develop and evolve the commissions’ strategic and business planning processes.
- Monitor and review the commissions’ annual business plans and budgets.
- Coordinate budget submissions with Finance and commission departments to ensure consistency of information.
- Track progress of strategic initiatives and projects.
- Partner with senior management and consult with internal and external stakeholders to develop new initiatives.
- Analyze administrative and program activities to identify future needs and program directions.
- Facilitate effective participation of the commissions in corporate initiatives.
- Provide issues management support to the Commissioners and Directors

**Process** & Service** Improvement**, **Integration,** and Innovation**
- Develop scope for projects such as operational reviews, process redesigns, and business case development for technology upgrades and change management programs.
- Develop an understanding of departmental operations to identify beneficial business concepts and practices for the Town.
- Map and document key processes; monitor service consistency; identify and implement improvements; monitor results.
- Support the adoption of technology to improve processes and services.
- Promote continuous improvement and innovation in technology use, focusing on enhancing internal communications and online public services.
- Provide consulting services and support corporate continuous improvement initiatives for senior management.
- Monitor and promote opportunities for integration and collaboration in service delivery across commissions and other Town departments.

**Communication **& Collaboration**
- Develop and manage relationships with internal/external stakeholders, ensuring services and activities support client needs, plans, and initiatives.
- Develop communication strategies supporting the commissions’ goals and programs in collaboration with Corporate Communications.
- Collaborate with ServiceOakville and Customer Experience to ensure consistent delivery of customer service through commission departments.

**How do I qualify?**
- You have a 4-year university degree with specialization in Commerce, Business or Public Administration or a related field. Your formal education is augmented by minimum 8 years of progressively responsible positions that have resulted in program and service delivery improvements preferably in a public sector organization. Strong knowledge of municipal government processes is an asset. In addition, your experience includes:

- Progressive experience in the identification and prioritization of strategies and plans and their incorporation into daily operations
- Sound analytical, decision-making, problem solving, financial control, organizational and leadership skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to deal effectively with Council, the public and with staff.
- Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and team building skills and proven ability to effectively manage/lead a staff team in a unionized environment.
