**Scope of Position**:
The Cook is responsible for producing meals for residents and guests using production checks and standardized recipes. The Cook will assist in the food ordering process for the home.

**Must be bilingual (French & English)**

**Must be willing to commute (17 Genier Street, St. Albert ON K0A 3C0)**

**Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., working every second weekend**

**Salary : Based on Experience.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepares meals for residents and guests ensuring dietary needs are met.
- Ensures residents are satisfied with all aspects of food preparation and presentation.
- Provides direction and support to the dining services staff.
- Participates as a member of the dining services team and provides support to the other members of the services team.
- Maintains an awareness of food inventory and takes the appropriate steps to minimize waste.
- Prepares and presents meals and food for special events in a manner that promotes a positive image and reputation to the public at large.
- Complies with all food preparation standards and health and safety requirements.
- Performs audits and reports anomalies in accordance with established policies, procedures and licensing regulations.
- Cleans dishes, pots & pans, all cooking equipment after meal service
- Empties dishwasher and puts away clean dishes in their appropriate place
- Operates and cleans food production equipment and food preparation areas.
- Aware of employees and supervisor’s responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents.
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy.
- Complies with all levels of legislation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Education/Experience**:

- Previous experience in a volume food preparation environment in the Health Care or Hospitality industries.
- Food Safe Certificates I and II (Asset).
- First Aide Certification (Asset).
- Must have a working knowledge of special diets.
- Understanding and experience of the HACCP program and food safety plan.
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate effectively in English & French.
- Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carrying heavy trays and items.
- Customer Service Orientation.

**Responsabilités principales**:

- Prépare des repas pour les résidents et les invités en veillant à ce que les besoins alimentaires soient satisfaits.
- S'assure que les résidents sont satisfaits de tous les aspects de la préparation et de la présentation des aliments.
- Fournit des directives et un soutien au personnel des services de restauration.
- Participe en tant que membre de l'équipe des services de restauration et apporte son soutien aux autres membres de l'équipe des services.
- Maintient une connaissance des stocks alimentaires et prend les mesures appropriées pour minimiser le gaspillage.
- Prépare et présente des repas et des aliments pour des événements spéciaux de manière à promouvoir une image positive et une réputation auprès du grand public.
- Se conforme à toutes les normes de préparation des aliments et aux exigences en matière de santé et de sécurité.
- Effectue des audits et signale les anomalies conformément aux politiques, procédures et réglementations en vigueur.
- Nettoie la vaisselle, les casseroles et poêles, ainsi que tout l'équipement de cuisson après le service des repas.
- Vide le lave-vaisselle et range la vaisselle propre à sa place appropriée.
- Utilise et nettoie l'équipement de production alimentaire et les zones de préparation alimentaire.
- Connaît les responsabilités des employés et des superviseurs et suit toutes les politiques et procédures de santé et de sécurité.
- Travaille en toute sécurité pour réduire les risques de blessures pour soi-même, les collègues et les résidents.
- Est attentif aux situations réelles ou potentiellement dangereuses, les remédie et signale rapidement.
- Porte un équipement de protection individuelle (ou des vêtements) selon les tâches, les FDS ou la politique de la résidence.
- Se conforme à tous les niveaux de législation.
