Facility Services is looking for two Project Managers to join their team The Project Manager position is a construction project management specialist, focusing on school new-build construction and improvement projects, that is responsible for a broad range of project duties, including supporting design work, identifying scope of work, estimating costs, supporting in the tendering process, scheduling, supervising, and administering contracts. This job ensures projects are delivered within scope, budget projections, and deadlines to Division standards. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with all applicable stakeholders including, but not limited to, the City of Edmonton, Province of Alberta, Utility Providers, Consultants, Contractors, Sub-contractors, and all Division departments.
This job leads project teams by utilizing internal/external resources to manage multiple new-build construction and improvement projects, while participating on fast-paced multi-disciplinary teams to support the Division’s operations and objectives.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Participate in identifying scope of new-build construction and improvement projects, including creating or obtaining budget estimates and identifying adjustments to scope, as needed
- Participate in and/or lead new-build construction projects for a variety of project delivery methods (e.g., LS, CM, DB, etc.) including managing the project team, compiling design comments, facilitating internal and external communications, and overseeing document control
- Collaborate with the Procurement Department, including supporting preparation of tender package documents, supporting negotiations, participating in SOA development, and reviewing and evaluating contractors and consultants, as required
- Review and recommend design proposals, drawing packages, and technical specifications prepared by architects and engineers
- Support the functional planning, programming, and interior design needs of a project by providing technical guidance and interpretation of legislative requirements, such as Alberta Safety and Building Code Regulations,
- Fire Code, Municipal Bylaw, and Alberta Infrastructure Guidelines. Ensures all necessary permits have been obtained and finalized
- Participates in department meetings and provides input into short
- and long-term strategic and operational planning
- Work in consultation with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Division requirements are met during the design and construction of projects. Collaborate with Division program consultants, Educational Planning, and other Division or Department teams to ensure project scope, completeness, and success
- Ensure work is performed within Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations, Building Code Legislation, and the Division Health and Safety Program, including incident investigation, to reduce and eliminate risk. Responsible for monitoring work performed by Contractors and Consultants at Division project sites and to work in collaboration with Division OHS to remedy unsafe work that has been identified
- Seek solutions and advocate for successful outcomes to problems, as they arise, to ensure Department goals and school needs are met, while still considering the perspective of all other affected stakeholders. This may require researching building products and construction methods, learning about new construction technologies, investigating contracting issues, and reviewing and assessing the appropriateness of existing documentation
- Prepare and present reports or other documentation, as required, that summarizes the requested project information in a clear and concise manner that is appropriate for the end user (e.g., senior leadership, non-technical users, regulators, etc.)
- Manages contract administration on projects, including responding to requests for information, processing change orders, tracking work completion, document control, and overseeing consultant and contractor progress
- Responsible to develop, monitor, and control all aspects of a project, including schedule, milestones, budget, risks, safety, and quality
- Maintains technical knowledge through a range of professional development activities
