**Position Summary**:

- Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Operator assists with all maintenance, operation, renovation and construction activities of facilities, building systems and grounds owned by the County of Perth. The Facilities Maintenance Operator provides support to ensure operational efficiency, energy management and accessibility of County facilities.**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Under the direction and supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, provides indoor/outdoor facilities maintenance support to management and staff according to the department’s functions
- Ensure compliance with building and facility usage policies and the security and integrity of building perimeters
- Performs maintenance and some custodial activities to ensure that buildings are operated and maintained in safe, clean, attractive and functional condition
- Call and retain contractors as well as be contacted by tenants to address Facilities issues, exchange information and deal with complaints
- Provide input into development of Emergency Management Plans and implement plan specifics
- Operate environmental systems
- Work with contracted Security Service provider to resolve problems with the security system
- Set up staff on security system; create and provide access cards and parking passes
- Follows through on procedures that ensure adherence to the County's health and safety policies and procedures. This includes: aiding the Facilities Supervisor in:

- Maintaining up-to-date Safety Data Sheet information and inventory at all Public Works, Courthouse and Archives facilities.
- Provide copies of new Safety Data Sheets to Human Resources for adherence to health & safety policies.
- Ensures WHMIS labeling requirements are met for chemicals used in Public Works, Courthouse and Archives facilities
- Assists Supervisor as required in completing monthly workplace inspection reports
- Ensure that Occupational Health and Safety practices and County of Perth policies and procedures are adhered to; wear any personal protective equipment required to ensure personal safety and report any known hazards and/or incidents in the workplace to immediate Supervisor

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education related to facility management, or a combination of skill-specific training and education
- Minimum 2 years related work experience in operations working with multi-site facilities
- Possess class "G" Driver's License in good standing
- General knowledge of building and construction, demonstration of skills including general carpentry, masonry, roofing, plumbing and painting
- Technical and mechanical knowledge required for operation and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems
- Experience working with and running lawn equipment and tools (Lawn mower, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, etc.)
- Basic Computer Skills
- Knowledge of the _Occupational Health and Safety Act_ and _Ontario Building Code_
- Experience operating a variety of maintenance and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently
- Good communication and public relations skills

**Shift**:

- Monday to Friday, 44 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend work when required.**Salary Range**:

- $28.02 - $32.79/hour (based on Perth County’s 2024 salary grid).
