Data Entry Clerk

Toronto, Canada St. Michael's Hospital Full time

The Data Entry Clerk will be primarily responsible for collecting, inputting, and analyzing data from the vascular and cardiac surgery groups. Information will be gathered and inputted into the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) database and the Wait Times Information System (WTIS) with the intent of extracting the collected data into a report format.

The incumbent will be expected to work with various members of the team to identify required data elements, define the data abstraction process, abstract and enter data, and assist with analyzing and reporting.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Entering vascular and cardiac surgery data into STS, WTIS, and other spreadsheets and databases as necessary
- Identifying and clarifying unusual data before entry to ensure data integrity
- Identifying data fields that are routinely unavailable and/or inaccurate, and working with necessary staff to resolve such chronic issues
- Collecting data in-person, and working with staff to ensure data are provided in a timely and accurate manner
- Assisting with auditing efforts to maximize available revenue
- Performing general office and data entry duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- High school diploma, and completion of (or enrollment in) post-secondary coursework related to business administration required
- Past experience managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and taking minutes required
- Knowledge of clinical documentation processes within electronic medical records required
- Past hospital experience required, preferably in a cardiovascular unit, and in diverse administrative roles
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and patient scheduling software required
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Strong analytical skills in order to prepare the analysis report on the findings of the data from the vascular and cardiac surgery groups
- Excellent keyboarding with a demonstrated attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have an excellent attendance record
- Demonstrated adaptability to a variable work environment
