**Your Opportunity**:
The Assistant Manager (AM) - Allied Health performs a key leadership role at the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) and reports directly to the Allied Health Manager. This position is responsible for contributing to the direction and leadership for Allied Health disciplines, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Speech-Language Pathology, Spiritual Care, Therapy Aides and Therapy Assistants. This position is key in aligning Allied Health (AH) to support the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services as well as the goals of the Peter Lougheed Centre. The AM is responsible for providing team leadership, direction and oversight for clinical leaders and activities within the department, unit-level decisions, as well as leading or contributing towards various projects related to goals for AH services. To be successful in this role, you will possess an understanding of how patients and families/loved ones are at the center of care strategies to build inclusive environments that reflect the needs and supports required for the populations that we serve (ethno-cultural, equity-seeking, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, persons with disabilities, and persons of all age groups).

**Description**:
Primary areas of accountability include: human resource management (including support to clinical leaders and frontline staff, staff engagement, staff satisfaction, recruitment, staff scheduling and payroll, safety, performance coaching including performance reviews and management) as well as program planning. The Assistant Manager will participate in various site and zone committees. To achieve this, the AM will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders within the PLC site and across Allied Health departments in the Calgary Zone.

**Required Qualifications**:
Minimum bachelor level degree for one of the PLC Allied Health Professions or Nursing Profession required, with appropriate licensure for the respective college. Minimum 5 years working as an Allied Health or Nursing professional in acute care or rehabilitation hospital, ideally in an organization of similar size, complexity and diversity. Recent experience in a leadership role in a healthcare setting. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills, communication skills, and conflict resolution among staff, leaders, patients, and families. Demonstrated effective communicator (written and verbal) with strong organizational, analytical, and conflict resolution skills. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to engage, inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Demonstrated initiative in leadership via courses, conferences, or certificates. Demonstrated experience in program development, project management and/or process improvement. Experience and education with Alberta Improvement Way (AIW) process improvement methodologies, LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies or equivalent is preferred. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization while leading within a unionized sector. Ability to plan, organize, and manage short and long term department goals and project plans while delivering patient/family centered and staff-focused results.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Previous management experience in Allied Health in an acute care/rehabilitation hospital setting. Leadership experience in acute care e.g., operations or clinical practice. Education/training in emotional intelligence as it relates to leadership. Experience with constructive conversations, performance appraisals and coaching. Experience with relevant software systems e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, RMS, Connect Care.
