JOB SUMMARY

Manages the operations of the department. Supervises the workload of others and ensures tasks are completed on time to the required quality standards without compromising health and safety. Works with key personnel to continuously seek improvements and address issues as these arise.

DIRECT AND INDIRECT REPORTS
Directly supervises the Shipping team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

**Health & Safety**:

- Works in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and regulations including using any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer;
- Reports any known workplace hazards or violations of the Act to the employer or supervisor.
- Maintains and promotes safe working practices and policies, leads by example and holds the team accountable for their actions

**Technical / Function-Specific**:

- Establishes methods to meet work schedules and coordinates work activities with other departments, stakeholders and customers.
- Determines shipping priorities and assigns work to the department based on delivery requirements.
- Organizes and directs the loading/unloading of material at the factory and the job/delivery site. Assists with loading/unloading where required.
- Fosters positive, collaborative relationships with third party vendors
- Attends and contributes to production meetings.
- Ensures management is informed daily about quality, quantity, personnel, safety and any other issues that require immediate attention.
- Undertakes projects as assigned by management to improve the operation.
- Performs other duties as required.

Management/Leadership
- Oversees the workload of the team. Plans and coordinates the work and ensures all team members understand what is required to meet daily and operational objectives
- Ensures all team members have the relevant training and tools to perform their job to the best of their ability
- Provides ongoing support and direction to the team, giving positive praise and recognition for work well done
- Creates an engaging work environment through regular communication and ensuring team members work to support each other, to achieve better performance and output

**Internal / External Customer Service**:

- Develops and maintains effective working relations with all key stakeholders

**Administration**:

- Prepares production and other reports where required.
- Dayforce entries are completed daily

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN THE ROLE

**Education**:

- Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma.

Experience
- 5+ years of related experience in a shipping department of a glass or window manufacturing facility is a strong asset. Experience in a high-volume environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of legal requirements as well as shipping methods, procedures and practices.
- Experience managing 3rd-party logistics providers

- Excellent Interpersonal skills, (verbal and written communication skills).
- Strong analytical and organization skills.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel).
- Forklift license is an asset, not mandatory
