We are looking for a highly motivated **Community Corrections Worker (CCW)** who is responsible for assisting community reintegration efforts by monitoring and supporting the services offered to offenders. The incumbent works in close collaboration with probation officers, communities, community justice panels/committees, corrections personnel, police, social service and health care professionals, and a variety of other individuals and agencies. This program aims to aid in the rehabilitation of individuals bound either by Probation Order, Conditional Sentence Order, and/or Parole or Certificate who are mandated by the Court, Parole Board or directed by the Ministry to participate through individualized and/or group programs and supports.

**Summary of duties**:

- Provide a client-centred, trauma informed and cultural approach to client case management.
- Provide reintegration and rehabilitation supports through assessing and connecting with necessary community supports and services at the earliest point of contact and/or immediately upon release from court / custody with housing, and
- Support to develop pathways to reduce continued involvement in the criminal justice system.
- Develop, organize, and involve individuals in appropriate community program activities and services (i.e., community service, personal service orders, and restitution) encouraging the use of culturally relevant and more traditional alternatives wherever possible.
- Support individuals to navigate the criminal justice system and community supervision process, working collaboratively with Probation and Parole Officers, Native Inmate Liaison Officers, Community Reintegration Officers, Institutional Liaison Officers, and Regional Indigenous Advisor
- Assist clients in accessing Elders, cultural mentors, ceremony, land-based healing supports, and any other resources required to initiate cultural pathways to healing and wellness, and to ensure adequate support during social history disclosures. This may include building a cultural network of supports if not readily available.
- Support individuals to navigate urban networks and resources / supports during periods of transition / relocation / periods of incarceration.
- Meet regularly with the client to develop and implement a cultural case management plan that is informed by a client’s social history and their identified goals and needs, and utilizes local and/or virtual counselling supports, referrals, social service programming and/or land base healing opportunities.
- Provide individual and group cultural program facilitation.
- Provide community orientation to Probation and Parole Officers and ministry personnel.
- To provide information to the Probation and Parole Officer for inclusion in court ordered Pre-Sentence and Pre-Parole reports for the Ontario Parole Board
- Maintain individual files and records, which meet Ministry requirements, on all client case activity and forward to Probation and Parole Officer, upon case completion.
- To assist with discharge planning for individuals s in custody, including the provision of information relevant to temporary absence, temporary release, or discharge plans.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- One to three years of relevant work experience, preferably in a criminal justice, social services, or community corrections setting.
- Knowledge of justice, reintegration, and rehabilitation programs, including familiarity with available resources and services for supporting individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
- Experience working with First Nations communities, with a demonstrated understanding of cultural sensitivities and the unique challenges faced by Indigenous individuals.
- Fluency in Anishinaabek is an asset, along with a genuine interest in and respect for Anishinaabek culture and heritage.
- Excellent empathy and active listening skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make informed decisions and address challenges effectively.
- Adaptability and resilience in working under pressure and responding to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, with the ability to create reports, maintain records, and communicate effectively using digital tools.
- Willingness to travel extensively to Nokiiwin member First Nations and a valid driver's licence.
- Successful completion of a Level 3 - Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
